There’s a quote from the movie Fight Club. It goes, ‘If you wake up at a different time, at a different place, do you wake up a different person?’ The answer would probably be Yes, if this was asked on the final day of any Saarang, for everyone is a totally new person when they are at Saarang. But then, the Saarang magic lasts for much longer than the five days over which the fest is conducted, and it is the Media which is largely to be thanked for keeping Saarang alive all through the year. The pump-adrenalin-pumping competitions, forget-to-blink-your-eyes performances and bang-your-head pro- shows are not solely responsible for the ‘Saarang Image’. The Media well and truly deserves mention for bringing Saarang into the limelight and making it every student’s annual pilgrimage.

Saarang is associated every year with leading media groups in India as it provides the affiliate an excellent opportunity to have direct access to over 50,000 students, youth and general public of all age groups. In print media, Saarang has had The Hindu and The Indian Express as its partners. The event has had daily coverage in The Hindu for quite a few years now. Apart from these, articles in leading magazines like The Week, Outlook, RSJ etc have reflected the true nature of Saarang. Saarang had the largest ever web-based publicity for a student organized culfest. Premier Websites and portals like Sify.com, Chennaionline.com, rsjonline.com, jammag.com etc had their spotlight on Saarang in past years. Sify.com held a Saarang blog fest during Saarang 2003.

Saarang boasts of a reputation that no other cul-fest can match and provides widespread reach for branding and promotional activities. 2005 saw a phenomenal growth in Saarang’s presence on television. Well designed ads by the organizers have helped boost Saarang’s image among the student community. The event was well covered by SS Music with a variety of exclusive shows. Shows on MTV and Channel [V] were also well received. Last year witnessed another milestone in Saarang’s association with Media companies when the professional show by Global Rhythms, an international band associated with A. R. Rahman, was televised and broadcast by B4U, a National media company.

Saarang has also enjoyed coverage on radio through popular stations like Radio Mirchi and Radio City, not only in Chennai but in other cities of Hyderabad and Bangalore as well. Saarang is not shy to news agencies either. Zee News, Star News, NDTV, CNN-IBN etc have also aired several reports and snippets from Saarang. Our alliance with the aforementioned media houses is testimony to the kind of quality exposure that we provide to our sponsors and media partners.
