Contemporary Art Workshop by Asma Menon

Asma Menon is a renowned contemporary artist living and working in Chennai. She graduated in Visual Communication from the Government College of Arts and Crafts, Chennai. Later, she did her Masters (M.A) in Fine Arts from the same college.

Asma Menon incorporates the most diverse features in her art, fusing them in powerful visual results: from primitive, almost pre-symbolic repetitive strokes, to highly sophisticated mythological quotations.

Extremes can be found in this warm overwhelming series of paintings. With her intense feminine identity, Asma Menon strives to bridge the gap between the ancestral and the contemporary with her cosmopolitan yet deeply Indian character.

The workshop will begin with a lecture by Asma Menon on the evolution of contemporary art. This will be followed by a crayon sketching contest among the participants, under the supervision of Asma Menon. A selected few of her best paintings will be on display.

A maximum of sixty participants will be allowed to participate in the workshop. Registrations will happen an hour before the workshop could begin.
