Debate
If discussions and arguments are what give you your kicks, do keep an eye out for the Saarang Debate. The most heated of all speaking events; this has participants short of lunging at each other's throats. With topics ranging from the most inane and trivial to the most current and raging, discussions here are sometimes humorous, sometimes intellectual, and sometimes a curious mix of both. This time around, the finals will follow the British Parliamentary style of debating where 8 teams will battle it out over 3 rounds. The format of the event is as follows:
Round 1
- Any number of participants in teams of 2.
- It's a written around where the teams have to write points for both FOR and AGAINST the proposition. Note that we don't want to read lengthy essays; Short bulleted points are preferred.
- Writing time would be about 30 minutes
Round 2
- 8 teams will progress to the finals. These teams will be divided randomly into 2 groups. The 4 teams in a group will contest in the Parliamentary debate
- The top 2 from each group will form the final 4 teams which will compete in another round of debate.
