At Saarang 2006, we invite you to a Light Music Show filled with passion, dedication, creativity and professionalism. These are words than can metaphorise just one artist in the country today. Welcome to a magical and compelling experience, a celebration of diversity….. Saarang 2006 proudly unveils a Light Music show that’ll be rocked by “Shankar Ehsaan Loy” - a trio of complete exciters and Rock n Rollers on stage.



We bring to you a SEL sound that permeates an entire culture. SEL fits comfortably into our schema of comfort-zone and innovative sound. Their music gong ears that rejoice in relationships and emotica that we have ceased to hear in other music that has grown all too familiar.

Shankar Mahadevan - musician, songwriter, classical vocalist...but beneath the genius' exterior beats the heart of a highly evolved artist. Here exists a man with captivating depth of thought, originality and expression that has highly motivated and inspired many people the world over.
Shankar’s chords are pure elastic; he can integrate traditional Indian vocals with contemporary western jazz, hip-hop, and R&B or sing along without losing a single gasp. You can read grunge at its peaceful best here. Mahadevan’s vocals swirl in uncanny glissandos and precision vibrato through melodies that unfold in epic cinematic productions and on-stage performances.
Shankar has surrounded himself with a duo of India’s finest world-music eclectics. Ehsaan Noorani - Guitars- (His collection of 18 is growing as you read) He handles band totality. Ehsaan's roots are a testimony to the school of music that he hails from and defines the thought-processes that go on to make-up the phenomenon that Shankar, Ehsaan & Loy are in this part of the globe. War fascinates him, Violence does not. That is the fine divide between being breathless and staying that way. Very joie de vivre and very into Blues and Electronica. Ehsaan creates swirling, ambient backgrounds of processed guitar that hang like gentle twings on Shankar’s melodic lines.
His and Their understanding of the balance between aesthetic criteria, the complexity of arranging sound, diversity and rich allusion of motif have contributed immensely to the evolution of popular music in their land enabling it to vibrate and echo worldwide.

Loy Mendonsa - The Pianist, The Iceberg. Completes the Zen circle popularly known as SEL. Loy is core with his understanding of soundscapes. Like the others in the band his influences comprise a vast spectrum of Motown, R&B, Soul and Jazz. Loy unplugged... Adds a dimension to the band that only a great keyboard player can add.
