Saarang...

The very word that evokes a plethora of images, of myriad hues, of electrifying moments, of glorious defeats, of turbulent struggles and of mind-blowing entertainment… Oh No! It’s not the ‘biggest event’. Not a ‘happening’ either. Just another college festival? Anybody who has experienced it (and these are some of the smartest chaps around) admit that no words encompass all of what Saarang is. It’s our passion, our state of mind, our moment of reckoning… to come together and be all that we can be, and that means you too! It is indeed what we call ‘Our way of Life’ and to understand it, all that you need to do is to ‘Live a Saarang’.

Come January and a kaleidoscope of happenings begins to unfold. Celebrations announce the arrival of a New Year and with it comes yet another Saarang. The sylvan surroundings of IIT Madras are suddenly abuzz with activity. All of a sudden you don’t care who you are, where you’re from or what you do. As one Saarang regular aptly put it “To live a Saarang is like wandering in the garden of the five senses…”

From the famous cultural mélange that was Mardi Gras, Saarang has evolved into a gigantic melting pot of various traditions. As the years have gone by, Saarang has not just lived up to the expectations of its aficionados but surpassed them all and earned itself a prominent spot in the cultural calendar of college goers, not to mention the media. From professional shows that have gone on to become unforgettable moments in history, to quizzes that have set benchmarks in quality, to lectures that have left lasting impressions, visitors have always been infused with emotions and mellifluous joys by the IITM way of life- the Saarang Way.

And… with an all-new organizing team, some new events, bigger crowds and a global audience, Saarang 2006 promises to bear a fresh new look surpassing every expectation you have. Einstein said “God doesn’t play dice with the universe” . Think you’re smart enough to prove him wrong? Join us as we perpetuate the theory that through Saarang He does indeed! Join us to know that it’s pretty safe to stare at the Sun (never mind the science teacher in school), that you’re not insane to ask an IIT guy to a date, to know that life doesn’t begin and end with lectures, notes and books.

Live a Saarang, the way we live it and we can assure you a week of ecstasy and memories that last you a lifetime.
